ILLUSTRATION

Welcome to one of my most beloved hobbies that I have managed to turn into a career! My mum always says that I was born with a pencil in hand and I cannot imagine a more accurate description of myself than that. Scroll down to see the illustrations I've been working on!

The Story Works
The Story Works is a charity which delivers fun and transformative creative writing workshops to young people across Dorset. The students either come to Bournemouth University for these workshops where they get to experience a university campus or we go directly to their schools.
During these workshops, I help to guide these kids in creating their own story with heroes, side kicks and villains. By the end of it, they have an amazing story that they've helped to create!
From here, I will use the story line and characters they have created to come up with some illustrations to complement their creative writing. The story and illustrations are combined together into a book that the students get to take home!
I have only just started working for this charity, but I also helped create some activity sheets for events such as Arts by the Sea!
THE BANK OF DREAMs + NIGHTMARES
The Bank of Dreams and Nightmares is another charity I work for which helps young people ignite their imaginations in creative writing workshops. These workshops take place around the Dorset area and I usually join via zoom call to illustrate these kids amazing concepts.
During these workshops, a mentor guides the kids in creating their own story with heroes, side kicks and villains and whilst they do that, I am drawing away in the background. By the end of it, I get to show the children what I've been creating for them and their reactions are always so amazing to see.
As I am illustrating under time pressure, they are usually quick sketches that I briefly refine afterwards. My drawings get combined with their creative writing into a book that the students get to take home in a few weeks.
Similar to The Story Works, I have not long been working for this charity but the process has really help my confidence in presenting and working with different age groups.
Greetings Cards
In my first year of University, I responded an ad to work freelance for a Comedian who was looking for someone to turn his jokes and ideas into quirky greetings cards and images.
Working freelance introduced me to a new set of skills in the form of creating some briefs; negotiating suitable prices; working efficiently towards short deadlines; and interpreting a client's goals.
This was a great exercise which helped me advance my Adobe suite, illustrative skills and even my business skills too!
Since then, I have even created my own greeting cards for friends and family.
Freelance
I love illustrating and honestly, I don't think I could live without it. Whenever I find a spare minute, you will find me with my iPad sketching down a plethora of different ideas. Whether that is making concepts for products such as the bandana and sock designs I have created, or just some big print projects. Have a scroll through some of the random things I've illustrated below!
