Soy + SUSHI
FILM PROP
FIRST YEAR PROJECT
For this university project, we were instructed to create a food banquet of our choosing. The model had to be suitable for the film industry.
Moulding and casting techniques were utilised heavily for this project. The rice and filling pieces were sculpted out of clay and cast in resin using silicone moulds pulled from the clay masters. The basic fish shape was also a clay sculpt cast in plaster. Details such as scales were added using Sculpey. The soy sauce bottle was created by vacuum forming two shells from a plaster mould. These were then fused together with soy coloured resin. A 3D printed lid along with vacuum formed fins were attached to complete the bottle.
This was such a fun project turning real life food into movie props in my own cartoony style!
