SHERCROC HOLMES
NEW SCIENTIST MAGAZINE COVER
We were given the brief to create a model that could be used to redesign the cover of any New Scientist magazine cover. The title I chose to redesign was 'Who Dunnit? Cracking Wildlife Crimes'. As a stop motion and clay enthusiast, I wanted to try my hand at miniature set building to create a crocodile version of Sherlock Holmes sitting in his study. The project was extremely detail orientated and focussed a lot on intricacies. I had to ensure that all pieces were in relative scale to each other and most importantly, looked good on camera. I also had to learn how to add emotion to a clay piece so that my main character, Shercroc Holmes, had charm and personality that made the magazine captivating. I had the opportunity to professionally photograph my model in a studio with cameras and light boxes as well as create the final design for the magazine cover.

HERE'S HOW I MADE IT
